In cell E1 type Cumulative Frequency
21.
Find the cumulative frequency for each class
a. The cumulative frequency is the frequency for the
class plus all of the frequencies for the other classes
before it.
b. In cell E2 type =SUM($C$2:C2) (the dollar signs
create an absolute reference to cell C2 that won’t
change when you use auto fill for the rest of the classes. The Sum function adds the
contents of each cell between the two specified.
c. Highlight cell E2, click on the lower right corner (your cursor turns into a black plus sign +) and
auto fill the cells below for each of the remaining classes
22.
In cell F1 type Relative Frequency
23.
Find the relative frequency for each class
a. The relative frequency is the frequency for the
class divided by the total number of data values. It
can be expressed as a percent or as a decimal.
b. In cell F2 type =C2/total Instead of ‘total’ type

c. Highlight cell F2, click on the lower right corner (your cursor turns into a black plus sign +) and
auto fill the cells below for each of the remaining classes
24.
In cell G1 type Lower Boundary

lower limit minus a half (0.5)
b. In cell G2 type =A20.5
c. Highlight cell G2, click on the lower right corner (your cursor turns into a black plus sign +) and
auto fill the cells below for each of the remaining classes
26.
In cell H1 type Upper Boundary
27.
Find the upper boundary for each class
a. The boundaries are the numbers that
separate the classes without forming
gaps between them. The upper boundary
is the upper limit plus a half (0.5)
b. In cell H2 type =B2+0.5
